Is it a sin to go swimming?
Swimming is a common recreational or exercise activity done for enjoyment, relaxation, fitness, or cooling off.
We're now going to evaluate it using the following simple but effective test:
1. Does it glorify God?
Yes. Swimming can be enjoyed with thankfulness and self-control, and physical exercise can honor God (1 Corinthians 6:19–20; 10:31).
2. Can I do this without being tempted to sin?
Yes. Swimming itself is not sinful, though modesty, lust, or inappropriate behavior can make the way someone participates sinful.
3. Could I do this with Jesus Christ next to me?
Yes. There is nothing inherently sinful about swimming that would make His presence incompatible with the activity.
So, no, it is not a sin to go swimming.
Swimming is morally neutral and can be enjoyed in a way that honors God. The sinful issue would come from how someone behaves while swimming, not from swimming itself.
