Is it a sin to lie?

Lying is deliberately giving false information or deceiving someone, usually to avoid consequences, gain something, or hide the truth.

1. Does it glorify God?

No. The Bible consistently condemns lying and calls believers to speak truthfully (Proverbs 12:22; Ephesians 4:25).

2. Can I do this without being tempted to sin?

No. Lying itself involves dishonesty, and repeated lying can strengthen sinful habits of deception.

3. Could I do this with Jesus Christ next to me?

No. A Christian could not honestly practice deliberate deception while knowing Christ is present and commands truthfulness.

So, yes, it is a sin to lie.

God calls Christians to reject falsehood and speak the truth in love. Circumstances may affect how we handle difficult situations, but deliberately deceiving others is sinful.
