Is it a sin to watch pornography?

Pornography is sexually explicit material created to arouse lust. People commonly watch it for sexual gratification, curiosity, or entertainment.

We're now going to evaluate it using the following simple but effective test:

1. Does it glorify God?

No. Pornography promotes lust and sexual immorality rather than holiness and purity, which Scripture calls believers to pursue (Matthew 5:27–28; Philippians 4:8).

2. Can I do this without being tempted to sin?

No. The purpose of pornography is to provoke lustful thoughts and desires, making it inherently an occasion for sin.

3. Could I do this with Jesus Christ next to me?

No. A Christian could not honestly imagine watching pornography in the physical presence of Jesus while seeking to honor Him.

So, yes, it is a sin to watch pornography.

The Bible clearly condemns lust and sexual immorality, and pornography is designed to encourage both. Unlike morally neutral activities, pornography is inherently contrary to God's design for purity and therefore should be rejected.
